Stephen Cotton

I am a contract law Consultant at WJM.

Contracts underpin most commercial activity and cut across many sectors of the economy. They are also loaded with expensive traps for the unwary.

For over 30 years, I have advised businesses about negotiating contracts which work and on escaping from poorly worded and onerous contracts.

I start from what my client wants to achieve, even when facing an awful set of supplier or customer contract terms.

Areas covered have included defence and public authority procurement or outsourcing; sporting and artistic sponsorship contracts; franchising, agency and distribution contracts; IT and IPR contracts, designing standard form consumer contracts and, more generally, contracts designed to get your new or established business trading on bespoke and sensible terms which enhance the efficiency, look and feel of your business.
