Charity Community Renewables

Renewable energy is driving change in communities in two ways.

First, larger-scale developments are generating often substantial sums of money for communities through community benefit payments. Secondly, many communities are choosing to generate their own power by establishing their own, smaller scale renewable energy schemes. Not only do these provide power to homes and businesses but they also generate income for their community.

WJM has been a market leader in renewable energy since the modern market was established. We work with communities on two fronts – our Renewable Energy team advises on the energy generation side of community renewables, and here in the Charity team, we help you structure your charitable vehicle so that the community benefits.

If your community is, or may be, receiving community benefit payments from renewables developers, we can work with you to establish and structure suitable charitable vehicles to receive, invest and manage the payments.

If you are looking to generate your own power, we work in partnership with our Renewable Energy team to make sure you have joined-up holistic advice across your entire project. Again we work with you to establish and structure suitable charitable vehicles so that when the power switches on, you know it all works for your community.
