WJM Partner Elected to Global STEP Committee

SJ Macdonald, who works across WJM's Scottish offices as part of our Wills & Trusts Disputes Team has been elected as a committee member of the prestigious Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Contentious Trusts and Estates Global SIG Steering Committee.

This comes on the back of SJ’s appointment as Vice Chair of STEP’s Scotland Branch in June 2024, showing her commitment to STEP from its local and national endeavours to the global network it represents.

STEP is a worldwide network of practitioners in the trust, estate, tax and succession planning sphere. STEP works to encourage public policy on key issues, respond to consultations, promote education (both for the public and practitioners) and generally ensure high professional standards among its members are adhered to.

The Contentious Trusts and Estates Global SIG Steering Committee focuses on international litigation issues for estates and trusts while promoting alternative dispute resolution methods, and best practice in advoiding contentious situations.

SJ said: “I am excited to be joining the STEP Contentious Trusts and Estates Global Steering Committee. With trusts and estates becoming increasingly contentious, this type of knowledge sharing on a global level is key to providing resources for practitioners and best practice tips. I am delighted to be part of the Committee to help shape the SIG’s future and assist our members.”

WJM is thrilled to support SJ in this endeavour. WJM is already a Platinum Employer Partner with STEP and including SJ, three partners of the firm are on various committees serving STEP. The firm is always keen to promote education, events and engagement with STEP.
