WJM Dunblane Legal Legend Beth Hamilton Retires After 25 Years

After more than two decades of legal practice, Private Client Partner Beth Hamilton has retired from her position at Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP, leaving behind a legacy of success.

Having spent 25 years with the firm, Beth will be stepping down from her role, marking the end of a distinguished legal career that has seen her become a highly regarded figure in the Dunblane community and a leader within the firm.

Beth, joined Bartys, then a branch of Borland, Montgomerie , Keyden, in 1999, initially as a part-time assistant specialising in Wills, Trusts, Executries, and Taxation. She became a Partner in 2005 and has since played an integral role in the firm's growth. Following a merger in 2017, Bartys became part of WJM, which has since combined with renowned legal firm Irwin Mitchell, and now operates from four other offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dunfermline, and Inverness.

A seasoned expert in Private Client work, Beth's contributions have extended beyond WJM. She is also a member of the Society of Trust and Executry Practitioners and was a tutor at the University of Glasgow and the Glasgow Graduate School of Law, where she taught the next generation of legal professionals for over a decade.

Reflecting on her retirement, Beth said: "It is with very mixed feelings that I say goodbye to WJM, my clients, my very supportive staff and the community that has supported me over these incredible years.

“It has been a privilege to work with my colleagues and clients, many of whom I now consider friends. I will always be proud of the work we've achieved together and the legacy we leave in Dunblane. While I’m sad to leave, I look forward to seeing how the office will continue to thrive under new leadership."

Beth will now be passing the baton to fellow Partner Mirella Marchini, who will take over as head of the Dunblane office. Mirella brings a wealth of experience to the role, ensuring a smooth transition for clients and continuing the high level of service for which the office is known.

Fraser Gillies, Managing Partner at WJM, paid tribute to Beth’s career. He said: "Beth has been a cornerstone of WJM's Dunblane office, and we are incredibly proud of all that Beth has achieved in her career at WJM and of the contribution she has made to the legal profession.

“Her professionalism, warmth, and commitment to the firm and her clients have been truly exceptional. Beth's contribution to WJM and the wider legal profession has been remarkable, and she will be greatly missed. We wish her all the best for this well-deserved next chapter and wish her a happy and fulfilling retirement.”
