Regeneration of the East End Brings New Leisure and Licensed Trade Opportunities to Glasgow
Stacy Campbell of WJM’s Leisure & Licensing team comments on opportunities for business developers and owners in Glasgow’s East End.
Less than a mile from the heart of Glasgow City Centre, there has been an impressive regeneration in the newly named Clyde Gateway area. Now almost unrecognisable, the area is up and coming.
Spurred into action by the need for the City to accommodate the Commonwealth Games, the Legacy will be the development of real business opportunities in the area due to the new office accommodation, industrial building and parcels of land which are now decontaminated and ripe for development.
Significant investment in the transport infrastructure including £445 million completion of M74 and an £11 million upgrading of Dalmarnock Railway Station ensure that the area is now easily accessible from other parts of the City. New housing, including the Athletes Village, has been created. Indeed the first stage of the Athletes Village has almost sold out and construction is starting on the second stage of the village later this year.
There is, in effect, a whole new community being created in the East End which, once established, will need pubs, restaurants and leisure opportunities to service it. If you think your business could benefit from moving or expanding into this regenerated location, WJM will be happy to guide you through the process, however you choose to expand whether through purchasing property, negotiating a lease or even building your own new property.
