"Alcohol sales ban threatens to put thousands out of work" - The Herald 3/12/14

3rd December 2014

Front page headlines in today's Herald have highlighted the need for Licensed Trade workers to renew their personal licenses or face the dole.

10,000 workers across Scotland face losing their livelihoods as the first notifications go out.

Back in August, WJM's Leisure & Hospitality team highlighted this issue in a Briefing Note: Your Licence - Refreshed not Revoked - A Leisure & Hospitality update from WJM

Today WJM's Stacy Campbell said, "There are severe penalties for staff when businesses are not aware of their duties under the relevant licensing legislation. With Christmas coming up, it is a particularly busy time for the trade and it's easy for key dates to be missed. This further highlights the need for owners and managers to keep on top of personal licensing issues."

"To avoid finding yourself in this situation, there is a clear need to plan ahead by diarising when personal licence renewals are due and arranging training well in advance."
