"I’m Allergic to . . . . " - the Latest Leisure and Licensed Trade Briefing From WJM

The words “I’m allergic to . . .” can strike fear into any premises serving food.
New EU regulations should make it easier for food serving premises to answer queries about exactly what is . . . and what isn’t in a dish, so allowing customers to make a better informed choice on what they can and cannot eat.
In their latest Briefing Note Stacy Campbell of WJM’s Leisure and Licensed trade team has taken a look at the new regulations.
Stacy commented, “Yes, it will increase the cost burden on a business in the short term but we believe there are potential gains to be made in the longer term as, through better labelling, customers are able to make better informed, perhaps more expensive, choices rather than sticking to the few tried and tested dishes they trust. Businesses serving food will have to note ingredients down the first time they make a dish but once that’s done it should all be relatively simple.”
