The Employment Rights Bill received Royal Ascent on 18 December 2025, upgrading the status of the Bill to the Employment Rights Act 2025 and kicking off one of the most extensive overhauls of UK employment law yet. 

Major reforms to employment rights in the UK relating to SSP, collective redundancies and more are now waiting to take effect, both in April and October. 

There are further expected updates for 2027, but due to the momentum of this legislative makeover, WJM believes it is essential to focus now on all the changes set to come into force to ensure that all organisations are fully prepared.
