WJM Inverness Legal Duo Announce Retirement
Two solicitors from Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie's Inverness office have announced their retirements after over 88 combined years in the legal profession.
George MacWilliam and Ian A MacDonald, both Inverness locals, have been with WJM since the firm merged with MacArthur & Co in 2015.
George, who has worked in the profession for 40 years, has been working as part of WJM’s commercial property team in recent years, specialising in domestic and commercial property transactions, the buying and selling of businesses and Wills and Powers of Attorney.
At WJM, Ian has been working with clients, families and family businesses to protect, manage and transfer property and assets through wills, trusts, powers of attorney and other structures. He has also continued to provide company secretarial services to clients.
Angus MacLeod, Head of the firm’s Inverness office, said: “Working with George and Ian has been an absolute pleasure. They’re two of the most respected solicitors in the Highlands who have each built up a fantastic reputation over the course of their careers.
“We’ll be incredibly sorry to see George and Ian leave the team. We’ve been working hand-in-glove over the last few years to ensure a smooth handover for all their clients. They’ve been instrumental in building the extremely strong team we have here in Inverness and will be leaving their clients in excellent hands. We wish them all the best in their well-deserved retirements, and we’re sure they won’t be strangers to the WJM office.”
WJM will continue to handle all work for George and Ian’s clients and ensure the safe storage and retention of all deeds and documents currently held on their behalf.
With one of the strongest private client teams in the Highlands, WJM is well placed to advise on the complexities of areas such as inheritance tax planning, family business succession, trusts, asset protection, care fees, powers of attorney & adults with incapacity, wills, and executory administration.
Combined with the firm’s specialist strength in commercial and corporate work, WJM is ideally equipped to provide market-leading joined up legal advice and make a real difference to clients, their families and their businesses across the region.
