WJM Freeport Event To Be Hosted As Part Of Highland Business Week
The transformational potential of Green Freeports on the Highland economy will be explored at an event organised by two leading law firms.
Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie and Irwin Mitchell will host the September event as part of Highland Business Week, discussing freeports investment projects and the important role they can play in regeneration.
An impressive line-up of speakers will give their expert insights, including Calum MacPherson, CEO of Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport; Amy Lambert, Deputy Head of Freeports at the Department of Business and Trade; Mike Engelbrecht, Vice President of Sumitomo Electric U.K. Power Cables Ltd, and Giles Jones, Freeport Manager at Liverpool City Freeport.
A recent major milestone saw the establishment of the tax sites for Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, so this aptly-timed event will allow businesses across the Highlands to learn more about reaping the benefits.
Angus MacLeod, Partner at WJM and head of its Inverness office, said: "Green Freeports represent a transformative opportunity for the Highland economy, and we and Irwin Mitchell are excited to host this event to explore the vast potential they offer.
“Our firms would like to encourage businesses from across the region to come along and find out about how our combined expertise can help them join the Green Freeport journey to transform the local economy and benefit their businesses.
“We can help businesses at various stages of their Green Freeport journey – providing compliance and regulatory guidance to those starting out, supporting companies who are looking to evolve to take advantage of the opportunities, and providing counsel to those with more sophisticated governance needs.”
Following presentations from the guest speakers, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with these industry experts during a Q&A session chaired by Angus.
