Alison Marshall Secures New D&I Certification

WJM Partner Alison Marshall has gained the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Certification for Leaders with The Law Society of Scotland.

She was part of the first group to take on the course, meaning Alison is one of the first in Scotland, and the first in Fife, to gain the accreditation.

The new course is only available to leaders and managerial members of the Law Society of Scotland.
Alison said she was proud to bring new insight to the wider WJM team.

She said: “Understanding the principles of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion is a non-negotiable for those of us who look after teams that come from entirely different perspectives on life and identity.

“This course was a small way for me to make sure that WJM as a firm are doing what we can to foster diverse teams and play our part in making sure the legal sector is as inclusive as can be in Scotland.”

The course required the participants to provide a detailed strategy of how they intend to incorporate ED&I aspects into their place of work.

Alison’s ED&I Team recently held a Pride evening in WJM’s Glasgow office in which thirty staff gathered for an evening of learning and fundraising for local LGBTQ+ issues. The evening raised over £650 for LGBT Youth Scotland, the country’s national charity for LGBTQ+ young people, aged 13-25.

The charity provides youth work, an equality accreditation programme, and advocates for LGBTQ+ people at a government policy level.
