the service:

We advise on the buying, selling, leasing, franchising and refinancing of leisure and licensed trade premises. We also give specialist advice on licensing laws.
why WJM?

We act for a number of clients who operate within various sectors of the leisure and licensed trade market; namely casinos, bingo halls, public houses, hotels and health and fitness centres.

The diversity in our clients’ activities means that there is njot a “one size fits all approach,” however we frequently advise on the following areas:-

  • Conveyancing
  • Employment LaW and TUPE regulations
  • Planning issues
  • Liquor Licensing and Gaming Advice
  • English Law

We also understand how the licensed trade works in practice and this allows us to take a commercial approach to achieving our clients’ needs. Businesses who operate in the leisure and licensed trade market depend upon their advisers to get things right first time as even the smallest of errors with licences can have dire consequences for trade and ultimately the future of the business.

We have many years of experience, and our lawyers are straight talking people with a knowledge of the market which means our clients, who range from household names through multiple operators to individual publicans, can be confident that they are receiving bespoke advice.

We also offer stand alone advice and support for individual events. If you have been asked to cater for a wedding or other function in the grounds of your hotel, or even if (like one of our clients) you are co-ordinating Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party, we will help you to ensure the ultimate success of the event.

Several members of our group are qualified in Scottish and English Law, so we can help you North and South of the border.
