Our People

We have 20 partners, 47 other professional staff and 44 support staff, working together in offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness. From here you can put faces to names.

Our relationship with each other and with WJM’s clients is built on trust and respect. We enjoy learning new ideas and striving to apply our knowledge to help you to achieve what you want for yourself, your loved ones, your business and your community.

We enjoy working in WJM rather than other law firms because of our values and vision, because it’s challenging and because it’s fun. Law is a serious business, but the WJM Social Committee and our in-house satirical publication ‘Aye Wright! Johnston!’ makes sure that we aren’t allowed to take ourselves too seriously.

practice area
I help resolve disputes, in court if necessary, but always commercially and pragmatically.

core skills
I am a skilled court practitioner, and my work includes drafting documents for court actions; appearing in court; negotiating resolution of disputes; giving commercial advice; and assisting with ‘big picture’ considerations. I mostly act in cases involving debt collection, commercial property, construction disputes and intellectual property & franchising.

career highlights
Having strips torn off me by a judge in a Glasgow court while still training - vicious - still, taught me a thing or two about life! Since then, I consider any successful outcome which has resulted in a happy client to be a highlight.

credentials
Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
Member of the Property Litigation Association.
Notary Public.
Former Council Member of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow.

there’s more to me:
A keen golfer, I regularly trudge the fairways searching vainly for improvement. I haven’t yet found it in the bunkers, so am now trying to find it in the bushes. When not losing golf balls, I try to increase fitness levels with a bit of squash - funnily enough, though, I tend to miss that ball too!
